Meals-on-wheels to cost $2

Meals-on-wheels recipients will pay $2 for each meal from Monday. The Canterbury Hospital Board’s finance committee was told yesterday that the Health Department had set the new rate of $2.09 a meal or SL9O plus GST.

After complaints about the difficulty off handling the 9c, the department had revised the charge to $2 a meal, the committee was told. This rate would apply for the rest of the 1988-89 financial year. The medical superin-

tendent, community health care services, Dr John Holmes, said that the previous charge for the meals was $1.60 or $1.45 plus GST. The board’s domiciliary services delivered 823 meals a day in Canterbury, he said.
