Heart patient hopeful

PA Wellington A potential heart transplant candidate, Mr Des Tucker, of Wellington, is still hopeful of receiving the life-saving operation at Harefield Hospital in England. His cardiologist, Dr Richard Thompson, said yesterday that Mr Tucker was still on the London hospital’s waiting list and the hospital was kept informed about his condition.

He said Mr Tucker, whose efforts to gain a new heart have been dogged by controversy, was in a "stable” but “not good” condition.

Mr Tucker has been on Harefield’s waiting list for about 18 months and early last year flew to England but returned after being placed low on the waiting list.
