PA Sydney The Canberra Raiders rugby league team wants its New Zealand forward, Dean Lonergan, to stay on next season although the New Zealand Rugby League has rSed him to play in Australia for only one year * Lonergan, who impressed during his Sydney first-, grade debut on Sunday against Manly, Is one of seven young Kiwis to have joined Sydney competition clubs this season under the one-year scholarship scheme. * The Canberra secretary, John Mclntyre, has sug-? gested that the Australian Rugby League chairman, Mr. Ken Arthurson, should approach the N.Z.R.L. to enable, Sydney clubs to retain the players. “Lonergan is going, to be a much better player for the Kiwis tour of England and France next year from playing here and I know he’d like to stay with us,” Mr Mclntyre said, j
