Mosse under qualifying time

Wellington

New Zealand swimmer, Anthony Mosse, went confortably under the Olympic qualifying time for the 200 m butterfly at an international meeting in Boca Raton, Florida. Mosse swam Imin 59.455ec and finished second to the Australian David Wilson, who re-

corded 1:58.99. Third was Benny Nielsen, of Denmark, in 1:59.50. The qualifying time for Seoul is 2:01.25, Mosse swam a time of 2:00.0 in little more than a training swim in Canada before the Olympic team was chosen.

The swimming selector, Norma Williams, said

Mosse’s time in Florida was very pleasing at this stage of his preparation for the Olympics in September. Wilson was second in the Australian Olympic trials to Marty Roberts. They edged the Olympic champion in this event, Jon Sieben,' out of the reckoning.

Australians dominated the final day of competition, taking first place in, six of eight races. The Australians proved they would be a force to be reckoned with at the Olympic Pool in Seoul as they captured 14 of 26 individual events and four relays over the three-day meet.
