No Govt endorsement

PA Wellington The Government would not make any formal endorsement of the findings of the Royal Commission on Social Policy, said the Prime Minister, Mr Lange, yesterday. However, the commission’s findings would serve as “the inevitable yardstick of comment on what we do in the future,” he said.

“There are some things — for instance, in the education section of the report — which constitute a useful research piece on the development of education.

“But there will be no formal endorsement of the Royal Commission. There will be no formal statement about this or about that.

“There will be an inferential process and a gradual process.”
