Brisbane campaigns confirmed

PA Auckland Connections of the smart performers, Sirstaci and Tilbury Docks, have decided to continue with plans to contest features in Brisbane this winter. Trainer Peter Simpson said that, despite Sirstaci’s disappointing runs in his last two outings, he would “still go ahead” with a two-race Brisbane campaign. “He blew quite a bit after his last start, indicating that he needed it, and he didn’t really handle

the heavy ground,” Simpson said of the Easter Handicap winner’s laststart fifth in a six-horse race at Avondale. “I’d have liked to have seen him show a bit more than he did, but under the circumstances it wasn’t that bad.” Sirstaci is booked to fly to Brisbane tomorrow. He will begin his Brisbane campaign in the sAustloo, ooo Ansett Cup (1200 m at Eagle Farm next Saturday.

Tilbury Docks, one of the finds of last winter’s racing, will be aboard the same flight as Sirstaci. Trainer Murray Baker, in two minds beforehand, was encouraged to proceed after the five-year-old finished second to Kerykeion at Awapuni last Saturday. “I had a good think about the trip and I’ve decided last Saturday’s run was good enough to warrant going over.”
