Berry to play in S.A.
PA Masterton Former All Black Marty Berry is leaving for South Africa in three weeks and will play the domestic rugby season there for the Pirates club in Johannesburg. Berry, aged 21, was a New Zealand colt in 1985 and 1986 and one of the All Black side which toured France at the end of the 1986 season. Berry admitted that he had spent time thinking of playing in the republic and now .that a chance had arisen he was keen to take it up. “It's really a case of furthering my rugby career while I'm young enough and fit enough to enjoy the experience,” Berry said. Having recovered from the knee injury which saw him play a mere handful of matches last season he was quite keen to get back in the game.
