Chirac promise to agents
NZPA London The former French Prime Minister, Jaques Chirac, promised the Rainbow Warrior agents, Alain Mafart and Dominique Prieur, they would be home before the end of his term of office, according to reliable sources.

The satirical weekly, “Le Canard Enchaine,” says Prieur plans to further her military career by sitting the entrance examination for the Ecole D’Etat-Major, a staff college for Army administrators. A Ministry of Defence spokesman would not confirm Prieur’s candidacy.
The sources, close to the Minister of Defence, said Mr Chirac made his promise while visiting Hao Atoll last year.
