Garage group may sue
PA Wellington The Motor Trades Association is considering legal action against the Government over its decision to cut petrol prices by 6c a litre from midnight on Wednesday. The chief executive of the association, Mr Doug
McLaren, said that until retailers had a chance to put prices back up when the oil industry' was deregulated, they would be forced to sell petrol at a loss. “Our members have been asking us for action. I can report that we are looking at legal methods
of recovering from the Government money lost by retailers in the next four days. “It is our view that they had an obligation to consider all sectors of the industry in their decision and they have clearly not donejt l so,” Mr McLaren
