Synfuel strike notice
PA New Plymouth Operators at the Synfuel plant at Motunui have given 14 days notice of strike action, a spokesman for the plant confirmed on Tuesday. Notice was served on April 27, after the breakdown of talks on the operators’ voluntary agreement. It will expire on May 11. Since then, both management and unions had
kept the matter quiet because they wanted the best atmosphere to. achieve a satisfactory settlement, said Synfuel’s human resources manager, Mr Chris Burnet. Negotiations are continuing between Synfuel management, headed by an industrial relations adviser, Mr John Tanswell, and a delegate for the process workers, Mr Glen Harris.
