Earthmoving equipment auctioned
About 95 per cent of earthmoving equipment and other plant put up for auction in Twizel last Friday and Saturday was sold. The property originallybelonged to Higgins ‘Earthmoving, which was taken over by Como Holdings last year. Mr Steven Smith, of ‘Como Holdings, said the sale was quite satisfactory though it was still too early to give accurate figures. He said a i lot of construction plant was not sold but this was not unexpected. "The sale confirmed what we thought, as there is no major construction taking place in the country at the moment." Como will retain this equipment. The auctioneer, Mr Graeme Robertson, of Wrightson Dalgety, said 1600 lots went up for sale and about 250 j buyers from around the country attended. He said bidding was reasonable and the prices were acceptable j under the present economic conditions.
