Garth Ivil. needed as the Mussorgsky four-year-old beat some of' his fancied opponents for • next Saturday’s sAustsos,ooo Rothmans iojo.poo (1350 m After having his three previous Australian campaigns hampered by upset travel plans and injury, My Arctic Wolf enjoyed a touch of luck at the expense of the talented Victorian galloper, Rancho Ruler, on Saturday. (The New Zealand galloper won on a heavy track by a head from Isomer, with another halfhead to Rancho Ruler. But Rancho Ruler’s jockey. Gary’ Willetts, claimed that some erratic racing from the favourite, Tumble On, denied him victory.
i Willetts said Tumble On carpe inside him at the 800 metres when Rancho Ruler was perfectly placed behind the two leaders and they pushed him out four wide.
But My Arctic Wolf fought doggedly to hold his lead and Ivil was pleased he showed the sort of form that justified travelling to Australia again after previous . setbacks.
