! One of the new displays [that will be seen tb[morrow at the Canterbury Building Centre is by Bar[row’s Furniture. ' Barrow’s have been manufacturing furniture at their Sumner premises for about 13 years. They design everything themselves and sell direct from their showroom. At one time the firm [was known mainly for its [tubular beds and bunks. Now, there is also a wide
range of furniture [including bedroom and 'lounge suites, wall units I and a system of storage units.
“We have never tried to compromise with out designs,” Annette Barrow says. “Because of ouq direct sales, we can offer realistic prices, but our products are i not cheap.” In 1985, the rdnge of furniture from Barrow's won a special ' design
award from the New Zea-! land Industrial design council. Known as the New Zea-! land Design award, it is a follow-on from the Designmark award. Then, last [ year, the! Barrow’s storage system ■ won an award from the Customwood Furniture [in-! dustry. This innovative system will form part of the new display at the Canterbury, Building Centre.
