‘Home’ for cancer families
Sponsors have begun to come forward for the house being established in Christchurch to : offer a “home away from home” for'.the families of children with cancer.
The Child ’ Cancer Foundation Canterbury Accommodation Trust’s chairman, Mr Richmond Paynter, announced yesterday that three rooms in the house had been sponsored- ! k , J Round Table ■] had
offered to sponsor the children’s lounge j for $10,0(0, G.U.S. Supervalue Supermarkets would sponsor the kitchen , for slo,ooo,and the dining room had been sponsored for $15,000. Mr! Paynter said details aboui! this sponsor would be announced later. “Tjie sponsorship of the various rooms in the house is an important part of odr appeal and allows companies to have a per-
manent recognit on of their support."
The trust was formed after a) house in Christchurch (was found to be needed ! urgently ( to accommodate families of children being treated for cancer and other lifethreatening diseases; The trust hopes) to raise $400,000 for the house.
