Harassment on Dyers Pass Rd
Two reports of roadusers being harassed on Dyers Pass Road have been given to the police after inquiries into the accident that led to the death of a Christchurch cyclist, Mr Simon Mackie.
Mr Mackie, aged 31, died after he came off his bicycle on a hairpin bend on Dyers Pass Road and broke his back. The occupants of a blue-grey car are believed to have abused Mr - Mackie and followed him down the hill playing “chicken” shortly before the accident.
Police inquiries into the January 16 accident have yet to identify the car or its occupants. Senior Constable Marty Fitzsimmons said that after recent publicity a motorist had reported being followed.

Senior | Constable Fitzsimmons said that in both incidents the description I of the vehicle matched that of the vehicle believed to have been involved in Mr Mackie’s accident.
The police were still anxious to speak to anyone who knew anything further about the accident, he said.
