PA Hamilton A possible ban on smoking in Hamilton’s public places is expected to be investigated bji the Hamilton City Council, after moves by a| councillor who says smoking helped kill her husband. ; :-j Mr? Shirley , McKay’s husband, Pat,' died last iWjnth after a long history/ of hiart'.trouble.
The council is expected, to call this (evening fori staff reports on a by-law i banning smoking in public* places. This i will be recommended by the plan-' ning and development committee in response to Mrs McKay’s; appeal. Other councils including Waitemata and Tauranga have already taken or moved to take similar action.
