Hanmer farm changes hands
Percival Farm, a 639, hectare grazing and fattening unit near Hanmer Springs, was , sold at auction for $680,000 on Friday, April 8. The property had a 1985 Government Valuation of. $BlO,OOO. About 60 people attended the' auction, which was conducted by Mr Woodley of Pyne Gould Gui-; ness in their Christchurch land sales room. Bidding began at $500,000 and rose in I lots of $25,000 with a final rise of $5OOO. The five bedroom homestead had been extensively updated to include a master bedrclom with ensuite and spa bath, separate
guest accommodation, tennis court and inground swimming pool. I I
It was the first time in several generations that Percival Farm has been offered for sale.
The auction was held in conjunction with Matson and Allan Real Estate.
A three bedroom Merivale townhouse, designed by architect Don Dbnnithome, was passed in at auction for $164,000 on Tuesday, April 5. About 12 people attended the auction, and the auctioneer, Mr Gavin Topp of Dunbar Topp Real
: ■ Estate, described bidding as active. Negotiations are underway with a “serious" buyer. Situated at 7 Clare Road, the property is only 10 years old and is on a 10.5 perch section. Mr Topp commented that although a few properties have sold at auction recently the auction market is as strong, if not stronger, than ever. “We have to market the properties which are up for auction, not just auction them,” said Mr Topp. “It can be done.
