New Zealand has reached agreement with Indonesia for the establishment of a direct air link between the two countries. !

Garuda Indonesia plans to inaugurate a weekly direct Auckland-Denpa-sar/Jakarta DCIO return service in October this year. Denpasar is the airport, on Bali.

The airline will introduce .a" second weekly fligtii from April, 1989, if the iservice goes well. Reciprocal rights are available to New Zealand airlines. i '

The Minister of Civil Aviation, Mr Jeffries, said the agreement provided for the airlines to service two points in each other’s country. “This opens the way for direct services from Indonesia to' Christchurch in the future,” Mr Jeffries said.
