Limbs’ show under attack
PA Tauranga The Auckland-based Limbs Dance Company is the latest group to ; incur the wrath of the Tauranga Concerned Citizens group. The group said it considered Limbs’ i show “Now is The Hour,” to be performed at Baycourt this week-end, nothing more than “sophisticated pornography” because of its use 'of semi-naked dancers. A Christian organisation, Concerned Citizens has' campaigned ; for higher community standards for some time, concentrating on live shows based on what it considers to be crudity. Last year it organised pickets of two male and female strip shows that visited Tauranga. A spokesman for the group, Mr Russell Turner, said yesterday he was again dismayed to discover the community felt such shows were necessary. “In a time when rape, incest, sexual violence and sexually transmitted diseases including A.I.D.S. are all on the increase, I think the last thing this community need is-a programme like this ’ one planned by Limbs,” he said. i '
