D.S.I.R. scientists speak of a "worrying” development in the 1 thinning of the protective ozone layer over New Zealand ... a hole in the ozone shield at the South Pole ... World-wide, the ozone layer was being destroyed because bf the use of aerosol sprays and other materials containing chlorofluorocarbons . .—News. Sir, must You keep on using j That Aerosol Spray? There’s a Hole in our Ozone Layer,. i i And It won’t go away — It’s getting deeper, by the Year, So Scientists say — We know All about the Hole in your Bank Account, And the Taxes you pay, 1 In a World full of Fear and getting j • . j I More fearful by the Day — ( Spare a Thought for what You are doing To that Ozone Overlay, 1 And what the Sun can do to the Earth With its unblocked Ray! God made a great Sun-brolly For Man, out of Ozone — Man added in his folly Improvements of his Own — ! . ; ( ’ His Chlorofluorocarbons — All those (clever little Sprays, Under your Arm and up your Nose, In so many Ways! And the Hole exposes Us rather more To the Ultra-violet Rays. Sir, does it matter much — yet? If the Ozone’s getting thin, J , Spare a Thought for the Hole, Sir, i: Think of your own Skin! 1 ■
