17 die in mid-air helicopter crash
NZPA-AP Fort Campbell. Kentucky Two United States military helicopters collided during a training mission and crashed 75m to the ground., throwing burning wreckage; across a wooded area and killing 17 servicemen, the United States army said. The Army’s fleet of 820 UH-60s I was grounded twice in I May, once for inspection and once because of! a design flaw. The entire fleet was also grounded in April, 1985, and March. 1986, after fatal crashes. In 1985, the Army identified a defect in the! main rotor assembly and ordered it to be corrected.
