Leading wool prices at Timaru
[Among leading prices received by growers for fine wool:at the Timaru sale were 550 c (82.9 per cent’yield) for six bales of Halfbred from G. Ri Ste vens (Fairlie); and 510 c (72.8) for seven bales of HalfbJ-ed from T. J. Nelson (Albujry). A. W. a. Brown (Ashburton) sold five bales of Halfhred at 509 c (66.3) and A. Cj Kerr (Southburn) five bales at 501 c (72.7). , A pig line of 40 bales, of Corriedale from J. ,R. and F. G. Gardner (Waihaorunga) sold jcit 507 c, and 17 bales of fine | Corriedale from the samp vendors made 520 c (73.6). Ini crossbred sales, seven bales of Romney two-tooth from C. M. Clemens (Gordons Valley) made 491 c (85,-3) and ,eight’bales of Romney shorn hogget from J. M. and M. A. Hastie (Albury) sold at 4S6c (79.8) Sixteen bales of crossbred from R. P. Tennent (Otaio) fetched 485 c (83.9), six [bales of crossbred twoiooth from Fallgate Farm (Temuka) made 474 c (81.6), andi eight bales of crossbred shorn hogget from J. MallinSoni (Geraldine) sold at 470 c (8118).
Border-Romney made 473 c (83) for nine bales from L. E. Donehue (Kohika), Coopworth reached 490 c (85.8) for 11 bales from N. M. Bishop (Albury), and 16 bales of Perendale from G. R. Stevens (Fairlie) sold at 474 c (81.9). Several lines of secondshear exceeded 500 c. including eight bales of Romney from J. M. Satterth waite (Claremont) at 519 c (90.4) and seven bales of BorderRomney two-tooth from R. F. Coles (Otaio) at 514 c (89.2). Other good sales of Romney second-shear included 13 bales from Langley Downs Partnership (Cave) at 502 c (87.4), 19 bales from K. A. Orange (Geraldine) at 496 c (86.3), six bales of two-tooth from D. R. McCullough (Temuka) at 507 c (88.4), 13 bales of two-tooth from J. W. and S. W. Scott (Geraldine) at 502 c (84.5), and four bales from D. G. Blakemore (Pleasant Point) at 510 c (89.1). Vendors with crossbred second-shear included E. J. Thacker (Peel Foreit) with six bales at 496 c (75.5), Sutherlands Farm (Sutherlands) seven bales at 492 c
(85.8) L. R. and S. R. Harvey (Fairlie) six bales at 507 c (88.1). C. and A. Dyer (Cave) 11 bales at 495 c (86.5), and D. M. and [J. D. Stowell (Ashburton) fiv£ bales at 500 c (86.9). [ I N. M. Bishop (Albury) sold 10 bales of, Coop worth second-shear at[sosc (59.6). and Tayleri and Sons (Temuka) received 495 c (85.8) for seven bales of Coopworth two-tooth. Other good second-shear prices included 512 c 1(88.9) for five bales of Perendale from A. B. Rogers (Cave).' 509 c (90.5) for five bales' of EnglishLeicester cross from G. Stocker (Cannington), and 489 c (85.4) for seven bales of Border-Romnpyl from J. C. Wyllie (Claremont). Among coarse lambs' wool sales were 16 bales of crossbred from Mi J. G. and E. A. Davis (Fairlie) at 500 c (87.7), followed by ; 495 c (84.4) for seven bales I from Taramea Estate (Hakataramea Valley). 493 c (85.1) for 13 bales from N. R. and E.| A. Pirie (Maungati), 490 c (83.4) for 15 bales from Stradbrook Partnership (Lismore), and 487 c (85.1) for seven! bales from
Waimarama Farms (Methven). Romney lambs' wool reached 498 c (85.9) for nine bales from P. A. and C. T. Anderson (Albury). 491 c (84.6) for four bales from T. J. Brosnan (Albury), and 483 c (S 3 for nine bales from M. J. and R. J. Gray (Cave). L. E. Donehue (Kohika) received 486 c (82.7) for five bales of Border-Romney lambs’, B. T. and D. M. McPherson (Fairlie) 493 c (86.7) for eight bales of Perendale, lone Farm (Mayfield) 478 c (78.5) for eight bales of Borderdale, Merristwood Partnership (Ashburton) 491 c (85.8) for nine bales of Coopworth. Burnett Valley (Cave) 485 c (85.7) for 34 bales of crossbred, and McKenzie Charitable Foundation (Ealing) 485 c (83.9) for nine bales of crossbred. Among fine lambs’ wools were 17 bales of Corriedale from K. M. Chisnail (Ashburton) at 490 c (72.3), 12 bales of Halfbred from D. C. Stocker (Ashburton) at 478 c (75.6), and nine bales of Corriedale from C. A. Jane (Ashburton) at 471 c (68.8).
