Miners end ban
Britain’s National Union of Miners ) has voted tc end a five-month overtime ban, in a blow to the militant leadership ol Arthur Scargill who was narrowly re-elected last month. The N.U.M. announced on Sunday that more than half of the I union’s 90,000 members voted on Friday to end the ban which began last September in protest against a new disciplinary code introduced by British Coal. The overtime ban, which Mr Scargill had wanted to continue, was the first national action by the N.U.M. since its yearlong strike ended in failure in March, 1985. — London.
