Classy run from Liada

The talented two-year-old filly, Liada, returned a top class performance to justify, firm favouritism in the first heat of the Kuhtze Lager Series at Addington last evening. Restrained early, from a wide drawn, by Mike de Filippi, Liada improved quickly to sit outside the

leader, Joy’s Girl, with 1200 m to run in the mobile 2000 m event. Asked for an extra effort at the 200 m, the Leicester Tatterson-trained daughter of Nero’s 8.8. easily mastered Joy's Girl and went to the line strongly, half a length in front, with a gap of two and three

quarter lengths back to Aunt Hazel. Liada, timed over her last 800 m in 60.215, returned just $1.70 to win last evening and the win was compensation for a desperately ■ unlucky second on the course last month.
