Gang members in Court
PA Rotorua Six gang members faced a joint charge in the District Court at Rotorua yesterday of causing grievous bodily harm in relation to gang confrontations on Tuesday. The joint charge related to an incident when gang members attacked occupants of a rival gang’s house. They appeared before Judge Gilbert. Richard Tonihi, aged 32, .unemployed, of Rotorua; Duncan Te Aonui, aged 27, carpenter, Rotorua; Richard Dixon Tukaharaina, aged 27, carpenter, Rotorua; Matthew Matui Haira, aged 23, unemployed, Rotorua; Michael Matenga Galvin, aged 28, unemployed, Rotorua; and John Shilo Roberts, aged 27, unemployed, Minginui, were expected to make applications for bail and legal aid. No pleas were taken.
