No appeal in grievance case
PA Wellington The Armed Forces Canteen Council will not appeal against the decision of the Labour Court in the personal grievance case between Mrs Rose Duncan and the A.F.C.C., the Minister of Defence, Mr Tizard, said yesterday.
Mr Tizard, who is chairman of the council, said an A.F.C.C. meeting last Friday decided against an appeal. I
In November the Court began hearing a case over the dismissal ,of Mrs Duncan, the Waiouru Army Museum souvenir shop
saleswoman-receptionist.
In a reserved decision, the Court found she was not dishonest and her dismissal was unjustified.
Mr Tizard said the A.F.C.C. had noted that the court found no substance to contentions of dishonesty against the general manager, Mr Kevin Smith, and the council had expressed its confidence in him as general manager. However, the council agreed there were lessons to be learned from ' the case and that some procedures needed review.
