Schemes opened to employers

Canterbury ’ employers are being encourged to offer work-based training to Access trainees. The i Canterbury Regional) Employment and Access Council has included in its 1988-1989 budget 50 places for work-based training. Employers interested in training an unemployed person under Access are being) encouraged to get in touch with their nearest Labour Department office:

Work-based training would be limited to a maximum duration of six weeks and employers would receive about $6O a week. Employers would be asked to provide the same information normally required from Access training providers and to adhere to a code of practice drawn up by the council. The employers would be' monitored carefully, the council decided yesterday.
