Special correspondent Greymouth An impressive win by his stable ; ■ runner. Chummy, in the Lion Brown Greymouth Cup, capped off a splendid evening for the South Island’s top reinsman, Mike de Filippi, at Victoria Park Raceway on Saturday. de Filippi drove superbly throughout the night for four wins and he combined with his brother, Colin, to complete four quinellas. By far the most successful driver ever at Victoria Park, de Filippi gave Chummy a perfect trail in the Greymouth Trotting Club’s feature race of the season, and there was little doubt once he strode to the lead at the 150 m mark that Chummy was about to extend his trainer’s track record. Chummy was in winning form in March of iast year as well, and won races in succession at Timaru and Methven. The de Filippi brothers won a total of seven races during the evening with three of those coming from the Shinn stable at West Melton. The Shinns won races with Tango Franco, Franco Reign and Rare Chance, while two other stable runners, Endearment and Lady ‘Brandonia, finished second.
