Airport firenlen warned
PA J Wellington The Airways Corporation says it will not pay redundancy imoney to crash firemen' taking jobs with private j crash fire services. j Airports have called for tenders, for the provision of their crash fire services. They take responsibility for the| services on April 1 after the breaking of a Minstry of Transport and later Airways Corporation monopoly. At a number of secondary airports, the corporation has lost the crash fire contract to private companies. The corproation’s personnel manager, Mr Gene O’Neill, confirmed that Airways crash firemen had been sent letters saying that if they took employment with one of the new crash fire services they would not receive redundancy. A Public Service Assocation spokesman, Mr Dave Beck, said the firemen were entitled to redundancy money.
