Police release woman’s name
The Christchurch police have released the name of a woman found dead in her hotel room early on Tuesday morning. She was Donna Marie Trenbath, also known as Warman, aged 27, of Christchurch. Although her death will be subject to a Coroner’s inquest, the police said she had died of a drug overdose. Drugs prescribed to Ms Trenbath were found at the scene. A post-mortem examination was carried out on Tuesday afternoon, but the results were not yet available. The police said that D.S.I.R. analysis could take “weeks.” Ms Trenbath had been
found dead in her room at a private hotel about 5 a.m. on Tuesday, when other guests were woken by her daughter, aged five, crying that she could not wake her mother. Miss Trenbath was found, clad in a dressing gown, kneeling on the floor against the bed. A male companion, aged 26, was found unconscious in bed and was admitted to hospital. He was discharged from hospital yesterday. The girl was initially taken into Social Welfare Department custody, but has since been released to her grandmother’s care. The police were not contemplating laying charges in relation to the incident.
