Mysterious makes grade
Mysterious, a four-year-old sister to the former New Zealand pacing star, Happy Sunrise, won the Christchurch Trotting Club Penalty-Bearing Pace at the Addington trials yesterday. The bay daughter of Steven Stock and Happy Gift had previously raced twice for her Christchurch part-owner and trainer.
John Miller, beating only one in her debut at Timaru in January and then beating only two at Blenheim on February 8. Yesterday, driven by Colin de Filippi, Mysterious settled back but improved three wide with cover over the last 1400 m. Wide turning for home, she produced a solid finish to win comfortably by
a length and a half from Tall Chief, which trailed and was held up turning for home. Galleon, back to the 800 m, ran on well for third.
Mysterious credited De Filippi with his thirty-fifth driving success for the season. Result:
