Cormack kilter may be in jail
PA Napier Detectives working on the eight-month hunt for the killer of Teresa Cormack believe they have a strong suspect who is already behind bars. The head of the inquiry, Detective Senior-Sergeant Alan Aitken, said the suspect had been arrested two months ago on charges unrelated to the Cormack inquiry. But Mr Aitken confirmed that at least two other men had been detained during the inquiry and faced unrelated charges. They too must be considered suspects “because we haven’t yet arrested a killer,” 4ie said.
The men are all thought to have submitted body samples which are among 21 sets sent for DNA testing in England in December. The police still await the results. Detectives are confident the inquiry, which at one stage involved a fulltime investigative team of more than 60, is drawing to an end and hope for an arrest soon. In the meantime, inquiries continued, Mr Aitken said. “I am confident there will be an arrest. “The next step is to sit down with the forensic evidence and witnesses and try to put a case together with the help of the Crown prosecutor.”
