Harbour Board considers writ

Blenheim reporter The writ for damages served on the Marlborough Harbour Board last week by solicitors acting for Australian passengers in the Mikhail Lermontov was discussed at a meeting of the board yesterday with the public excluded. The chairman, Mr Bruno Dalliessi, said after the meeting that the writ had been received by the board, which would consider the action it would take. "As the matter is subjudice, the board has no further comment to make,” he said. The board’s secretary, Mr Brian Fitzpatrick, has been appointed acting general manager of the board with effect from March 31, the date on which the general manager, Mr Michael Goulden, will begin retirement leave.

Mr Dalliessi said Mr Fitzpatrick would hold the post until the end of September when the port company for Marlborough would be established.
