Bowls qualifiers

A huge field of 240 entries had been whittled down by more than half at the end of qualifying matches in the Bell Tea women’s bowls tournament on several Christchurch greens yesterday. From the hectic activity of section play, 95 pairs emerged for the sudden death battle to the final. Of these, 33 have drawn byes, and the remaining 62 will begin post section play on two greens at Beckenham and two at Opawa this morning. The tournament is expected to finish on Friday at Beckenham.
