Firm to receivers
A Dunedin computer and joint-venture group, Remarkable Films, has been put in receivership by the Bank of New Zealand. The group includes two subsidiaries, Remarkable Enterprises and Remarkable Computers, which are also in receivership. Mr Trevor Scott, a Dunedin accountant who is joint receiver with Miss Sandra Goodchild, said there was no possibility of the group trading its way out of difficulties. Twenty-nine people lost their jobs. The group began with
software for the film industry. It was in a scheme to develop a tourist resort on the southern side of Lake Wakatipu, but this ' was later taken over by American backers. Remarkable was also involved in a number of joint ventures, ranging from salmon farming to musicals. Remarkable Enterprises also sold software by mail order. Mr Scott said customers of this would be protected. They would either receive goods ordered or their cheques would be returned, Mr Scott added.
