Secrets of life with ‘Shy Di’

NZPA-PA London The Princess of Wales’s former flatmates have disclosed some of the secrets of life with their “Royal” resident. “Shy Di” mucked in with the housework, feasted on Mars bars — and always hogged the telephone. Seven years ago this week, Princess Diana moved out of the South Kensington flat when her engagement to the future King became world-wide news.

Carolyn Pride, who is godmother to Prince Harry, said none of the girls were “desperately good” at housework and never had a cooking rota. “We were all terrible pickers and used to eat a lot of Mars bars. “Diana was a hit more domesticated, but then it

was her flat. She was the most neat and tidy. But she was the longest on the phone — definitely.” They told “Woman’s Own” magazine they did entertain at home, but never went in for wild parties. Virginia Pitman said Diana was “mentally young” when she married. “She wasn’t greatly academic and she did not have much experience of the world but she has done so well. She looks fantastic too and everyone adores her.” Carolyn Pride married a brewery heir, William Bartholomew, in 1982 and is a professional opera singer. Virginia Pitman is still single and works as am interior designer. The third flatmate, Anne Bolton, married Noel Sinclair and now farms in Australia.
