Earlier start for Court performances
The Court Theatre’s Thursday performance will commence two hours earlier than usual, for a trial period from early March. Productions in the Court One auditorium will start at 6 p.m., and those in Court Two will start at 6.15 p.m. The first productions to be affected by the new arrangements for Thursdays will be “Arsenic and Old Lace,” in Court One, and “When I Was A Girl I Used to Scream and Shout,” in Court Two.
The recent season of “Aladdin and his Wonderful Lamp” played at 6 p.m. daily, except on Friday and Saturday, throughout January. Analysis of box office records showed that the earlier start proved popular. Since then, many patrons have inquired whether early evening performances would become a regular part of The Court’s activity. “Arsenic and Old Lace” is a comedy-thriller. Box office response has been good, and the earlier
shows are already booking steadily. The production opens on March 12. “When I was a Girl I Used to Scream and Shout,” which opens on March 5, is a veiy funny, very frank look at a girl going through adolescence. Last year, also in response to requests from the audience, The Court included Saturday afternoon matinees as a regular service. These, usually on the first Saturday after opening night, have gained a firm following.
