Parking for concert
Sir, —I would like to voice my disgust at the Ministry of Transport’s lack of consideration for the people of Christchurch attending the Symphony Orchestra’s Summer Times finale on Friday How can the
M.O.T. expect the support and respect of the public when it imposes hundreds of unnecessary parking fines on the townspeople who on this one occasion have parked safely but “illegally” because there simply was no space to park anywhere else? Where is the soul, the sense of occasion, the feeling of community in such action? It is no wonder the M.O.T. receives animosity from the public when it displays such intolerance for this spectacular community event. — Yours, etc.,
JULIA HABGOOD. February 19, 1988.
