New kitchen package

Perham Magnet Joinery, formerly Perham Industries, is a firm which can offer a complete kitchen package to the customer. They are soon, to take over Noel’s Appliance Centre, in Colombo Street, and will sell whiteware and kitchen appliances along with the joinery to surround them. The intention, according to Mr Perry Tomlinson, the owner, is to provide a total kitchen service from one company rather than the customer having to run all around town. Mr Tomlinson took over Perham Industries in

April, 1987, intending to

make it into the best quality joinery firm in Christchurch. They have since moved from 516 Wairakei Road to larger premises at 570 Wairakei Road, where they are putting in a kitchen showroom and employing four extra staff. “We're really only interested in quality,” said Mr Tomlinson. “We don’t make rubbish.” One of Perham’s more high profile jobs was the new customs arrival area at Christchurch airport. They are also doing work for Wellington and Auckland airports, and made the joinery for the Cotswold Inn in Papanui Road. Their kitchens are cus-tom-built, both for the available space and the taste of their customers. “Most people know what they want,” said Mr Tomlinson. “They bring in magazines, and we tell them if what they want is possible, and help them to adapt the design to their house and their needs. “Most of our work comes from people who have seen a kitchen we’ve done elsewhere. People who come to us almost always come back to us for anything else they want doing.” -
