Lost
By
S. AUSTIN,
of Christchurch Amanda was trapped. All her heart rending agony had built a wall around her inner self and she couldn’t escape.
She longed for her dead father — how she longed for him to stroke her hair, whisper assurances to her and shield and protect her, telling her it was all a bad dream.
She longed for tears to come so she could release her sorrow in a torrent. But none came. Like a madman she raged at the sea and thrashed wildly at the gulls. Flinging herself on the sand the sanctuary of tears came and she lay sobbing until the dawn.
