New series
Young David Basner has set up his own advertising agency because he wants to be his own boss. But can his parents look after themselves?
Todd Waring stars as David in a new comedy series called “Nothing in Common,” which begins this evening at 8 p.m. on Two with a double episode.
Derived from the film of the same name, “Nothing in Common” follows the fortunes of the Basner family; mum and dad, who are recently divorced, and David, who has big ambitions for his new business.
But there are a few teething problems to be overcome, and David’s fellow workers are creating most of his headaches. There is his assistant, Jacqueline, who is beautiful but totally lacking a sense of humour, Myron the “gofer,” cameraman Joey (an ex-con), and Max and Nora, the copywriters, who have a creative licence for lunacy.
To make things worse, David’s dad (played by Bill Macy) keeps interrupting him at the most inopportune moments.
