Ratepayers’ brochure
PA Wellington Ratepayers throughout New Zealand will receive a brochure with their first bill this year telling them how to use the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act. The brochure, prepared by the Internal Affairs Department, outlines the purpose of the act, its scope, how to make re-
quests for information and what to do if the request is refused. The new legislation will take effect from March and will extend the principles of the Official Information Act as it pertains to government departments. It also covers meetings of local authorities. The brochure will be available from public libraries.
