Mobile bank for Chch
An armoured mobile Postßank will stop in Christchurch city areas once served by Post Office Savings Banks, says the regional general manager of Postßank, Mr Dave Smith.
Outlining some of PostBank’s new services to members of the Paparua County Council, Mr Smith said the mobile Postßank would stop for about an hour two days a week in such areas. He said the
days would be likely to coincide with peak banking days such as benefit days. Mobile banks which would function in the four New Zealand metropolitan areas, were only one of several types of PostBank outlet, Mr Smith said. He mentioned the Hereford Street branch of Postßank as an example of the stand-alone branch, owned and run by PostBank. Mr Smith said several
Postßank staff had been in the community discussing customers’ needs and a programme of areas to be served by the mobile Postßank had been drawn up. Details of its stopping points should be released in about two weeks, he said.
Postßank had been working with the Social Welfare Department to look at alternatives for beneficiaries to collect their money. Previously,
benefits had been direct credited to Post Office Savings Banks, he said.
The installation of more 24-hour money machines, at Postßank branches, counters at the Hornby branch and a new outlet in Papanui were other plans mentioned by Mr Smith. “We hope to provide the best level of service to those affected by the closings and minimise any adverse effects,” he said.
