Tales of betrayal and up-market enterprise
“The Girl” bills itself as “an erotic thriller” with Franco Nero and Bernice Stegers. The R-18 rated video has a European setting into which a web of murder and betrayal is woven. It would certainly be best if people intending to watch it did not read the video cover. It gives away an enormous amount of the plot.
“My Dark Lady” takes a more lighthearted view of life. It begins with a man on the run from the law, for shoplifting while wearing a Santa Claus costume. He takes refuge in the house of a woman engaged in selling services of a personal nature. As the fugitive Santa is an out-of-work actor 1 , he is apparently well-placed to instruct his new friend on
how to move up-market with her enterprise. The lady can now afford to send her son to an exclusve pre-school, but difficulties arise when the school discovers the source of the family fortune. The video stars Lorna Hill and Fred Keller. It is rated M, and runs for 104 min. The New Zealand release is by Video One. —D.C.
