Aust, recognises State of Fiji
NZPA-Canberra Australia now recognises the States of Fiji, Kampuchea and Afghanistan, the Prime Minister, Mr Bob Hawke said yesterday. Mr Hawke, who was answering questions after a speech at the National Press Club, said the Government saw the resumption of aid to Fiji as a “natural thing.” The Foreign Minister,
Mr Hayden, had announced the Government had changed its basis of diplomatic from Governments to States. But he did not then say if the change automatically meant. Australia recognised the Fijian State. Australia withdrew recognition of the Fijian Government, and suspended aid, after the militas'. coup last May.
