Hat-trick for Avion De Combat
Special correspondent Dunedin Avion De Combat recorded his third successive win when he coasted’ home in the Aspinall Joel Handicap at the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s I meeting at Forbuny Park ton Saturday eveniiig, but
his trainer-driver, Len Mosely, was not entirely happy with his performance. “He didn’t trot as good as he normally does. He shouldn’t have given away the lead,” said Mosely. Avion De Combat began smoothly from 10-metres and Mosely tookS him
three wide to lead after 700 m. Scotch Leigh headed him at the 1500-metres and Mosely moved from the trail to be alongside Scotch Leigh at the 1000 m. Allowed rein in the run home, Avion De Combat
went clear to win by two and a half lengths in the useful time of 3:36.8. Mosely has withdrawn Avion De Combat from the last two nights of the meeting, rather than start from 20m or further back. He will turn his attention tojiaces at Addington next month.
