NZPA-Reuter London The holder, Arsenal, was handed the assignment it least wanted when it was paired with the favourite, Everton, in the draw for the semi-finals of the English League Cup soccer in London yesterday.

The London club, which beat Liverpool at Wembley last season to clinch the trophy, had hoped to meet the defending league champion in what would have been a showpiece final. But with the 1986 winner, Oxford United, facing Luton Town in the other two-legged semi-final, a clash between one of the established big city clubs and a less-fashionable provincial outfit is assured.
