During the restricted fire season it is an offence to light any fires in the open air unless a permit has been obtained from a Fire Warden or Fire Brigade Officer. Permits will be Issued; For stubble fires — by Fire Wardens. Other, rubbish fires — by Fire Brigade Officers. Provided that: (1.) Weather conditions are suitable. (2.) The fire is patrolled until completely out. (3.) The area to be burned Is surrounded by at least an 8 metre wide fire break. (4.) Before lighting a fire occupiers of neighbouring properties affected are to be notified. The restriction does not apply to hangis or barbecues (in enclosed containers), lit in a property serviced by a high pressure water supply. Please note that any permit Issued is not a legal defence against claims for damage that may be caused by the fire. RANGIORA DISTRICT COUNCIL EYRE COUNTY COUNCIL RESTRICTED FIRE SEASON NOTICE is hereby given that pursuant to provisions of the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977, a RESTRICTED FIRE SEASON is extended over the whole of the Council’s rural area from January 21, 1988, until further notice. During the Restricted Fire Season it is an offence to light any fires in the open air un- 1 less a permit has been obtained from the Council office. Permits will be issued for , certain types of fire on weekdays (e.g. stubble clearing) lit ( between the hours of 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. provided that: 1 Weather conditions are suitable. 2 The fire is patrolled until I completely out.
