During the restricted fire season it is an offence to light any fires in the open air unless a permit has been obtained from a Fire Warden or Fire Brigade Officer. Permits will be Issued; For stubble fires — by Fire Wardens. Other, rubbish fires — by Fire Brigade Officers. Provided that: (1.) Weather conditions are suitable. (2.) The fire is patrolled until completely out. (3.) The area to be burned Is surrounded by at least an 8 metre wide fire break. (4.) Before lighting a fire occupiers of neighbouring properties affected are to be notified. The restriction does not apply to hangis or barbecues (in enclosed containers), lit in a property serviced by a high pressure water supply.
