BERRY Secretary HURUNUI COUNTY COUNCIL RESTRICTED FIRE SEASON NOTICE Is hereby given that 1 pursuant to provisions of the Forest and Rural Fires Act ; 1977, a Restricted Fire Season is extended over the whole of the County from January 20, 1988, until February 29,1988 or such date as may be notified. > During the Restricted Fire Season it is an offence to light any fires in the open air unless a permit has been obtained from the Council Office. Permits will be issued for certain types of fire on weekdays (e.g. stubble clearing) lit between the hours of 4.00 p(m. and 9.00 p.m. provided that: 1. Weather conditions are suitable. 2. The fire is patrolled until completely out. 3. The area to be burned Is surrounded by a 6 metre wide ploughed strip. 4. Before lighting the fire, occupiers of neighbouring properties are to be notified. Tjie restriction does not apply to hangls or barbecues (in enclosed containers), lit on a property served by a high pressure water supply. Please note that any permit issued is not a legal defence against claims for damage which may be caused by the fire.
