Fewer stoppages last year

PA Wellington The first three-quarters of last year saw little industrial action, according to the Statistics De-

partment. In the nine months to September, 157,104 person-days of work were lost in stoppages, compared with a loss of

1,188,102. person-days in the same period of 1986. The number of people involved in stoppages totalled 37,428 — half the number recorded in 1986.
